What Medicare Covers in Our Clinic

Dr. Handly is a provider for Standard Medicare.

Some seniors have chosen to have HMO’s like Group Health or Secure Horizons administer their Medicare benefits.  If so, you must go to a Group Health provider or your chosen program’s chiropractor to have your care paid.

Medicare requires a chiropractor to do an initial exam and make a diagnosis of your condition requiring x-rays of your spinal column.

Medicare does not pay for this exam or x-rays.

Our fee for this service to seniors is: $125.00.  Medicare will pay $27.64 of a $34.55 allowable fee for a chiropractic spinal adjustment leaving a co-pay of: $6.91. You may have a supplement insurance plan that will pay the $6.91 and $125 for your exam and x-rays.  If you don’t have a supplemental insurance plan or it does not pay, you must pay the initial $125 + $6.91 per adjustment.

Medicare has no limit on the number of visits to a chiropractor.

Medicare has an annual deductible of $135, which is inclusive of all your doctors.  The deductible is satisfied by allowed fees only.  Example:  In this clinic you would pay for 3 visits at $34.55 totaling $103.65 & $21.35 on the 4th visit for a total of $135.  This example applies if your deductible has not been satisfied.

We do not bill Medicare for the initial $125.  We will bill Medicare $34.55, and in most cases, Medicare will forward the claim to your supplemental insurance plan for the remaining 20% or $6.91.
