Your First Visit to Our Renton Practice

You will be warmly welcomed and made to feel at home. Help is on its way!

Your first visit at our office is also the longest one.  This is when the doctor collects all the information necessary to take care of you, and you can expect to spend about an hour in our office.

Paperwork

First, you’ll need to fill out a confidential health information form that is tailored to your specific situation—general history, auto accident, on the job injury.  You can save time by downloading these forms and filling them out prior to your first visit, if you wish.

Your Consultation and Initial Examination

Dr. Handly, will first go through your confidential health history with you, to make sure he understands your problems thoroughly.  He will listen to your concerns, and any fears you may have and address them immediately to put you at ease.

Dr. Handly is committed to using the highest quality research and clinical grade instrumentation available for the purpose of detecting and correcting subluxations that are causing or a component in your problem.

Dr. Handly’s examination includes measuring your spinal flexibility using computerized technology and the latest AMA protocols and standards.  He will measure the muscle activity of your neck and back with surface Electromyography (SEMG).  This is totally non-invasive and does not cause pain or irritation.  It is totally safe for infant’s, children, pregnant women or seniors. It simply requires the placement of small probes against the skin with the test taking less than a few minutes.  He will palpate (feel) your spine assessing any areas of pain and dysfunction.  Dr. Handly will take x-rays of your spinal column to evaluate your structural condition and alignment.  If you need more advance evaluations such as MRI, Dr. Handly will send you to a specialized facility to have these procedures done.

When the examination is complete Dr. Handly will study the scans and measurements and compare the x-rays with the examinations to make an assessment of your condition.  You will be scheduled the next day or as soon as possible to receive your report of his findings and recommendations for care.  Care can begin immediately if Dr. Handly is willing to accept your case.
